Department Chair

I retired from the University of Oklahoma and my position of as Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication at the University of Oklahoma in Summer 2021 after serving there July 2010. Prior to that I served as Chair of the Department of Communication at the University of Missouri from December 2003 to July 2010. Being chair allowed me the opportunity to use various skills to assist in creating a high quality educational program. I hope that I made the programs better for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff.  

The University of Oklahoma continues to offer a comprehensive undergraduate program which allows students to select courses within their interest areas. At the graduate level, we offer a Masters Degree and a Ph.D. in Communication. The department has a group of productive researchers and teachers. Recently, a study published in Journalism & Mass Communication Educator ranked our department as 15th in the nation based on the number of articles published by the faculty in communication journals.
